2 Point Pleasant Boro Students Have COVID; Field Hockey Exposure

POINT PLEASANT BORO – Two test Point Pleasant Boro students have tested positive for the coronavirus, officials said.

Students on the Junior Varsity Field Hockey Team were also possibly exposed during a recent game.

In a letter to the community last week, Superintendent Vincent Smith said school administrators became aware of two district students who have tested positive for COVID19, one at Memorial Middle School and the other at Point Pleasant Boro High School.

The cases are not related. The school administrators and school nurses were immediately notified about the students and the school administration and nurses followed all CDC and NJ Health Department protocols, Smith said.

The Ocean County Health Department also was contacted by the staff upon learning about the two positive cases and the exposure to the team.

Parents of affected students in all of the above instances have been notified that their child must quarantine for the specified number of days, Smith said.

"We will continue to be in contact with the Ocean County Health Department while taking the necessary steps to protect the health and safety of the Point Pleasant School Community," Smith said..
