​3 Point Pleasant Boro Students Test Positive For COVID-19

POINT PLEASANT BORO – Three students at Point Pleasant Boro schools have tested positive for the coronavirus, the district announced on Tuesday.

One of the students attends Memorial Middle School and two are at Nellie Bennett Elementary School, officials said.

One Nellie Bennett case is an isolated episode not related to other cases, said Superintendent Vincent Smith.

The other case at the school and the Memorial School incident are related to a house party that took place on Halloween, Smith said.

Family members of students in attendance have reported testing positive and the students of these families have been quarantined, Smith said.

Administrators and school nurses followed all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state Department of Health protocols and the Ocean County Health Department was contacted.

Parents of the affected students have been notified that their child must quarantine for a specified number of days.

If a student is exposed as a close contact to someone who tests positive, they must quarantine for 14 days from the time of contact.
