The Point Pleasant area offers fun that doesn't cost a lot, if you know where to look. Here are 5 ideas.
POINT PLEASANT, NJ — Point Pleasant is a great place to be when the weather warms up — and it doesn't have to cost much to have fun.
Here are five low-cost outings around Point Pleasant and the rest of Ocean County where you can take the family or go with friends.
G-Funk's Superhero Family Fun Run — This is too fun and tickets start at $13. G-Funk Entertainment is sponsoring the walk, run, or "fly" event at the Point Pleasant Borough High School April 24. The event kicks off at 10 a.m. and scheduled run times begin at 10:15 a.m., so get a ticket here and show up ready to save the world, or something like that.

Touch A Truck — Wall Township is where you can go to see big trucks up close. On April 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2700 Allaire Road in Wall Township, the township's Youth Center and Community Services invite guests to explore. The Touch a Truck event is free.
Go fishin' — There is a reason so many people "would rather be fishing." It's a great relaxing pastime and one for all ages. Don't know much about fishing but would like to learn? A website called On The Water brings local fishing reports, including info for Southern New Jersey.

Cars Shows, All Summer Long! — Car shows are going on all over New Jersey, and they are often free to spectators. Follow listings for local or statewide events here or at the New Jersey Car Shows website. Look at the flyers to see if there's a cost for spectators; fees listed are usually for those entering a car in the show or for vendors.
Rescue Palooza — Not free, but for only $20 you can help support animal rescue shelters and enjoy music in Neptune City. Head north to the Headliner Oasis Bar for the event on April 30, from 3-7 p.m. All proceeds will go to Shore Saves animal shelter. Ticket information is here.
