5G Cell Tower Design Discussion Set In Point Pleasant Beach
Mayor Doug Vitale is seeking residents' input on the design of 5G towers in the borough, which the town has to plan for.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ — The Point Pleasant Beach Borough Council will be discussing design specifications for possible 5G poles at the council meeting on Tuesday, Mayor Doug Vitale said Thursday.
In a post on his mayoral Facebook page, Vitale said the council is working to set design specifications now because the borough will eventually have to accept having the poles constructed in the borough, under federal law.
"This is being done in advance in order to have the design specifications set in place for the future, while also utilizing input from all governing body members and the public, which is something that didn’t happen last time," he wrote.

Vitale posted photos of potential designs and asked residents to send him an email at dvitale@pointbeach.org with their preference for the design. You can see the photos at the bottom of this article.
"The intent of this post is to get input not engage in conversations about 5g," Vitale wrote.

The borough passed a new ordinance in 2024 governing small wireless facilities to comply with federal law.
"The ordinance allows carriers to access the right of way as required by federal law, while imposing reasonable design standards to be approved by the governing body," Vitale said in August, when the borough reached a settlement with Munisite, a company that had begun constructing 5G towers that were never reviewed by the council.
The borough council meeting is Tuesday, Jan. 21 at borough hall, 416 New Jersey Ave. A caucus meeting, if necessary, starts at 6:30 p.m. and the business meeting begins at 7:30 p.m.
