Another Point Pleasant Beach Student Tests Positive For COVID-19

POINT PLEASANT BEACH – Another Point Pleasant Beach student has tested positive for the coronavirus, the district announced in a letter this weekend.

The district is coordinating with the state and local health officials "to assure the health and safety of our community," said Superintendent William Smith.

The announcement comes several days after Smith said the district has had at least two coronavirus cases, and Point Pleasant Beach was doing everything is can to prevent the spread of the virus. Read more: 2 Point Pleasant Beach COVID-19 Cases As District Makes Changes

A key component in the management of the new case includes contact tracing, which will identify and notify close contacts from the student's most recent day at the school, which was Monday, Oct. 19th.

"From our early investigation, this case does not appear connected to our previous cases," Smith said. "This impact to our classrooms and instructional program should be minimal."

The district is taking precautions, undertaking deep cleaning and disinfecting of all school spaces.

Nurses are also monitoring any reports of illness among staff and students
