Point Borough Man Charged in Neptune Bank Robbery

A Point Borough man has been arrested for allegedly robbing a bank in Neptune and making terroristic threats, police said on Monday.

Daniel C. Skokos, 28, who lives on the 1100 block of Arnold Avenue, has been arrested for allegedly committing robbery and threatening to harm a bank teller last Thursday, according to a copy of a police complaint.

Skokos is accused of "threatening to commit harm purposely to terrorize" a teller, according to a copy of a complaint filed by the Neptune City Police Department which does not specifically name the bank teller.

Skokos was lodged in Monmouth County jail on $100,000 bail and is scheduled to have a first court appearance on Wednesday, according to the complaint.

The complaint states that Skokos committed "robbery by threatening" the teller or purposely putting the teller in fear of immediate bodily injury in the course of committing a theft, specifically by passing the teller a note "demanding money in the course of committing a bank robbery."

The complaint continues, saying Skokos "threatened to commit harm, purposely to terrorize" the teller "or in reckless disregard of risk of causing such terror, specifically by passing a note to a bank teller, threatening physical harm."

There is "probable cause" for a warrant because the "nature of the offense makes it unlikely that the defendant would appear in response to a summons," the complaint states.

There was no one available at the Neptune City Police Department to provide further details, such as which bank was involved, what the note said, whether Skokos actually obtained any money from the bank before he was arrested or where or when he was arrested.
