Bicycle Rally Teaches Kids Rules Of The Road In Point Pleasant
The annual event for third graders had kids test their skills on a simulated road course while learning rules to keep them and others safe.
POINT PLEASANT, NJ — Third graders from Point Pleasant got to test their skills and learn about bicycle safety as the Point Pleasant Police Department held its Third Grade Bicycle Rodeo.
The bike rodeo aims to teach students bicycle safety and the rules of the road. A simulated road course was set up where the students had the opportunity to test their skills while riding a bicycle. They had to obey street signs and stop for pedestrians (other students) who were in a crosswalk, among other rules.
The event was held at Ocean Road and at Nellie Bennett elementary schools, in conjunction with Kris Esposito and staff from Point Bikes and Kathleen Ebert of the Greater Mercer Transportation Management Association. Brielle Cyclery provided extra bicycles for the event.
