Five Boro Seniors Commended By National Merit Scholarship Program
The five students from Point Boro High School tested in the top three percent out of everyone who took the PSAT and NMSQT.

POINT PLEASANT, NJ – Point Pleasant Borough High School seniors Kalena Bing, Jack Estelle, Scott Miller, Logan Morris, and Christopher Nunez have been named Commended Students in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Each student will get a Letter of Commendation from the school and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) from Principal Kurt Karcich.
“Earning commendation in this highly competitive program speaks volumes about the exceptional academic promise demonstrated by these five students,” Karcich said in a statement. “I offer them my sincerest congratulations on this extraordinary achievement.”

These five Boro seniors are some of the about 34,000 Commended Students nationwide being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship awards competition, Commended Students are among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2022 competition by taking the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
“It is quite an accomplishment to be recognized as one of the highest scorers in the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Program,” Point Pleasant Borough Superintendent of Schools Dr. Adam L. Angelozzi said.

“Overall, these five National Merit Commended students from Point Pleasant Borough High School achieved right around the top 2% of all 1.6 million test-takers. Our district applauds the preparedness, hard work, and dedication that undoubtedly contributed to this accolade.”
