NEW JERSEY – New Jersey marinas will be open during the coronavirus crisis, Gov. Phil Murphy said on Saturday.

Murphy joined NY Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and Ct. Gov. Ned Lamont in announcing that marinas, boatyards and marine manufacturers will be allowed to open for personal use as long as strict social distancing and sanitization protocols are followed.

Chartered watercraft services or rentals will not be allowed, and restaurant activity at these sites must be limited to take-out or delivery only, like anywhere else in the three states.

This announcement aligns the policies of the three states on this particular service.

“We’ve committed to working with our regional partners throughout this crisis to align our policies when and where appropriate,” said Murphy. “A unified approach is the most effective way to alleviate confusion for the residents of our states during the ongoing public health emergency.”

The announcement comes as Murphy, speaking during a Saturday news conference, declared that New Jersey is finally "flattening the curve" in the coronvirus crisis even as he announced 3,026 new cases and 231 more deaths. Both numbers were declines from Friday.

Murphy spoke as the number of cases rose to 81,420, and 4,070 people have died. Read more: NJ Coronavirus Updates: Here's What You Need To Know
