The Intercoastal Tug-Of-War Returns To Manasquan Inlet In October
30 teams representing Point Pleasant Beach and Manasquan will face off in a tug-of-war across Manasquan Inlet for the Mayor's Trophy.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ –After missing last year due to the COVID-19 endemic, teams representing Point Pleasant Beach and Manasquan will be competing in a tug-of-war across Manasquan Inlet on Oct. 9.
The festivities will start at 11 a.m. and will feature 15 different heats featuring 30 teams of 25 people along with festivals on each side of the Inlet featuring live music and craft and food vendors to raise money for each town’s recreation department.
Manasquan won the first event in 2018, and Point Pleasant Beach won the most recent event in 2019 and currently holds the Mayor’s Trophy.

“We all really missed this event last year,” committee chairman Geoff Brown said in a statement. “Our first two years were really overwhelming successes, raising nearly $50,000 between the two recreation departments. It’s a special event, and this year we have additional opportunities for public participation. We can’t wait to roll out the ropes!”
This year’s event is sponsored by Jersey Mike’s, and for the first time, groups will be able to sponsor a team. Participation is $625 per team ($25 per person), and each participant will receive a Manasquan Inlet Intracoastal Tug t-shirt.
