Klotz's Kitchen Takes Top Honors In Point Pleasant Chamber's Chili Bowl For Second Year In A Row

A taste of Philly hit the spot for judges.

Point Pleasant, NJ - All it took was a taste of Philadelphia for Colleen Klotz to win the recent Second Annual Chamber Chili Bowl for the second time in a row.

Her "Philly Cheeseteak Chili" was the favorite among the seven entries in the contest, according to the Ocean Star.

“It is awesome to win again and it means a lot more that it was a group of my peers — everyone from the community, friends and customers who voted for me,” said Klotz, who owns Klotz’s Kitchen. "I was just trying to think of something different. And this is always a good time. It's a great chance for networking and seeing everyone else. I love it."

The after-hours networking event was held at Northeast Sign & Lighting on River Avenue.

The seven businesses included Klotz’s Kitchen, Windward Tavern, The Grenville Hotel & Restaurant, MonAlyssa Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria, Bridge Avenue Barbershop, the Vintage Automobile Museum of New Jersey and SwiftLift.

“We were here last year ... and when I heard they were looking for participants I thought we didn’t have much to lose,” said SwiftLift President Lisa Wager, whose three-meat chili won second place. "“There’s a lot of good cooks here, but it’s also about networking and these are all good people. We always have a good time."

“We had a lot of nice dishes this year which is exciting because you don’t always want to have the same ones, so it was nice to mix it up,” said Eileen McCabe, the executive director of the chamber.
