The branch closure is one of several in New Jersey and more than 50 on the East Coast, according to a report.

POINT PLEASANT, NJ — TD Bank, one of the largest financial institutions in the United States, will close dozens of locations along the East Coast, the company announced.

All told, TD will close 51 branches in 12 states and Washington, D.C., they said. That includes the branch in Point Pleasant.

The list of locations has not been announced by the bank but was reported by Fast Company.com.

Closures will be in place by Jan. 29, 2026. TD Bank has more than 260 branches and ATMs in New Jersey.

"At Investor Day last month, TD shared plans to deliver a stronger, more scalable U.S. retail presence through significant store enhancements, tech-forward digital banking capabilities, and personalized, advice-led services," Fast Company reported, quoting a spokesperson. "We also regularly evaluate our network to ensure we’re serving our communities where they need us, which at times results in store closures or relocations to nearby neighborhoods."

The announcement comes after the bank pleaded guilty in a federal money laundering scheme and agreed to a $3 billion fine back in October 2024, making it the first national bank to do so.

Deficiencies in the bank's anti-money laundering compliance program "allowed criminal proceeds to flow" to Colombian cartels, officials charged. Details on the case are online here.
