More COVID-19 Cases Identified At Point Pleasant Beach Schools

The Point Pleasant Beach School District has identified several coronavirus cases at its schools in recent days. Here's what's happening.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH – The Point Pleasant Beach School District has identified several coronavirus cases at its schools in recent days, prompting the district to issue alerts to parents and students.

The district announced on Tuesday that two people at the Antrim Elementary School recently tested positive for COVID-19. The two people were most recently at the school on Tuesday, Nov. 24th.

On Nov. 24th, the district announced that a student at Point Pleasant Beach High School tested positive for COVID-10. That student's last day of attendance was Nov. 17th. And on Nov. 20th, the district announced that a student at the Antrim school also tested positive. That student's last day was Nov. 16th at Antrim and Nov. 13th at the high school.

In each case, the district says it is coordinating closely with officials and will follow Centers of Disease Control and Prevention guidance to "assure the health and safety of our community."

A key component of this includes contact tracing, which identifies and notifies close contacts connected to each infected person's most recent day of attendance.

The district says the situation is fluid and Point Pleasant Beach is monitoring each case closely.

The district prevents the spread of viruses and other gyms by cleaning frequently touched surfaces several times a day. Deep cleaning and disinfecting of all school spaces is ongoing.

The district's nurses are also monitoring any reports of illness among staff or students.
