New Garbage, Recycling Rules Unveiled In Point Pleasant Beach
The changes aim to make things easier for residents, Mayor Doug Vitale said.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ — New garbage and reycling regulations have taken effect in Point Pleasant Beach that officials believe will help residents.
Mayor Doug Vitale announced the new regulations on his Facebook page Monday.
Residents who live in alleys east of Ocean Avenue will no longer have to roll their cans out to Ocean Avenue, Vitale said. Instead, the garbage and recycling will be collected in front of their homes once a week "as long as the garbage scooter can traverse the boardwalk and it is not blocked by sand or snow," he said.

Garbage for the alley residents will be picked up on Mondays and recycling will be picked up on Wednesdays, Vitale said.
Previously trash and recycling cans had to be rolled to Ocean Avenue during the non-tourist season.

In addition, homeowners are allowed to leave up to four garbage bags at the curb once a week "without the need for a rigid container," Vitale said. It is a change from the previous rule that permitted only one bag accompanied by a garbage can, he said.
"The brown, black, and green bags are thicker than the white kitchen bags and are tougher for the seagulls to rip open," he said.
Garbage bags in District 3 and 4 will be collected on Monday and District 1 and 2 will be collected on Tuesday, Vitale said.
