POINT PLEASANT BEACH – The Point Pleasant Beach School District is reporting more COVID-19 cases, but officials said Monday that they are not planning to make additional changes.

Three people at Point Pleasant Beach High School recently tested positive, Superintendent William Smith announced on Monday.

The high school already was transitioning to full-time remote learning on Monday through Wednesday, "so these cases will result in no further action at this time," Smith said.

The school transitioned to remote learning after the district was unable to determine the origin of two COVID-19 caes.

The district is coordinating closely with public health officials and will follow guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state and local health departments, Smith said.

A key component of the follow-up includes contact tracing, which identifies and notifies close contacts of the three people.

Contact tracing has been completed for two of the cases, while the process continues for the third case.

The district is taking precautions to prevent the introduction and spread of viruses and other germs by cleaning frequently touched surfaces several times a day, Smith said.

Deep cleaning and disinfecting of all school spaces is ongoing, and district nurses are also monitoring any reports of illness among staff or students.
