Point Beach's Historic Season Comes To An End

Point Pleasant Beach's Little League All-Stars went 2-2 in the New Jersey Little League Section 3 Tournament.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ – The historic ride for the Point Pleasant Beach Little League All-Stars ended on Thursday night with a 10-7 loss to host team Sunnybrae in the loser’s bracket final of the New Jersey Little League Section 3 tournament.

The kids from the Beach went 2-2 in the double-elimination tournament, opening up with an opening game 11-0 loss to Toms River East but then winning the next two games against Milltown 6-3 and Tinton Falls 17-6 before Thursday’s loss.

“It just didn’t go out way,” Point Beach manager Troy Dombrowsky said about the game, which was tied heading into the last inning. “We hade a couple of misplayed balls and a couple of untimely walks.”

“Sometimes, the ball bounces the wrong way, and that’s what happened.”

The team was hurting after the game, but according to Dombrowsky, they quickly realized how much they accomplished in the best season ever for Point Pleasant Beach, and the tears quickly turned into laughter and smiles, even getting together for one last team selfie.

“As a coach, it was a gratifying thing to see,” Dombrowsky said about his players. “They realized how much they have down, how much they have accomplished.”

“They are a great team and a great group of kids.”
