Point Pleasant Boro Football Aiming For Sectional Title Game Berth

The Panthers are hosting Cinnaminson in the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 2 semifinals.

POINT PLEASANT, NJ — In 2022, the Point Pleasant Boro football team reached the sectional semifinals of the NJSIAA playoffs before its season came to an end.

Friday night, the Panthers are back in the Central Jersey Group 2 semifinals and hoping to get to the sectional title game as they take on Cinnaminson. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Point Pleasant Boro High School, 830 Laura Herbert Drive.

Point Boro (8-1) is the top seed and has just one defeat, a one-point loss to Manalapan on Oct. 6. The Panthers have been powerful on offense, scoring at least 42 points in all of their victories, while allowing 20 points or fewer in their wins. Point Boro allowed 24 points in the loss to Manalapan.

Cinnaminson (9-1) has been similarly stingy on defense, allowing 13 points in the Pirates' lone loss to Seneca. They have averaged 31 points per game on offense.

Point Boro was 9-1 last year, with its lone loss in the Central Jersey Group 2 semifinal, and the Panthers were 10-2 in 2021, reaching the NJSIAA South Group 2 Regional Championship before falling to Haddonfield.
