Point Pleasant Pharmacy Honored For Strides Against Opioid Abuse
A local Point Pleasant pharmacy was honored this week for its groundbreaking efforts to curb opioid abuse in Ocean County, officials said.

POINT PLEASANT, NJ - A local Point Pleasant pharmacy was honored this week for its efforts to curb opioid abuse in Ocean County, officials said.
Butler’s Pharmacy, which has served Point Pleasant for 64 years, will be the first pharmacy in Ocean County to use prescription bags highlighting the link between prescribed pain medication and subsequent heroin abuse, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Angelo Valente, Executive Director of Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey, said in a statement.
The effort is part of the pharmacy’s participation in Drug-Free New Jersey’s Knockout Opioid Abuse Day, Billheimer and Valente said.

In a Wednesday social media post, Billheimer and Valente – alongside Butler’s Pharmacy owner Tracye Steel and Point Pleasant Borough Chief of Police Adam Picca - could be seen posing with the bags.
“Thank you for helping us spread this important message,” Billheimer and Valente wrote.
