Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?
Kristine owns a small business doing entertainment and decor. Since many of her services can't be used right now, she has been using her spare time to spread joy to the children in her hometown by taking custom orders for what she calls a "balloon bomb." The children get so excited when they come outside to see a surprise bouquet custom-made to whatever theme the parent requests attached to their porch railing! More than 60 children have been balloon-bombed already and she continues to freely fund and take more orders daily. She feels in these times we are in keeping the children happy and filled with joy. Even something as little as a bouquet of balloons lets them know they are special.
When she is not fulfilling balloon orders she has a contract and license to pick up prescriptions via drive-throughs to deliver medicine to people who are unable to go to the store themself due to health complications. When asked, she will tell just about everyone: "I can't sew very well or make masks but I WILL find safe and socially distant ways to help people during this time!"
What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?:
Kristine's company first came about when she offered to volunteer to face paint at a Walk for Autism. Everyone loved the way she interacted with the children and saw a natural talent. I don't think she imagined to have a company offering so many different things now, but she is never afraid to take on new ways to engage with and keep children smiling. Even more importantly she never forgets she wouldn't have the company she has now if it wasn't for volunteering. That is why this balloon bomb idea is just another way among so many she gives back. You'll find Kristine volunteering throughout the year at charitable events for organizations such as ocean of love, national night out, hope sheds light, the JBJ soul kitchen, brain injury alliance, and so many more!
Thank you for all you do!
