Two runners from the Point Pleasant area were among the thousands to tackle one of most popular road races in the world — the 2019 Boston Marathon – on Monday. And we have their times (see below).
The 123rd Boston Marathon Monday featured the closest finish in 30 years, as Kenya's Lawrence Cherono — running in the marathon for the first time — edged out Ethiopia's Lelisa Desisa by 2 seconds. It was the closest finish since 1988.
The conditions on the 122nd edition of the historic race were so bad that the Red Sox postponed their annual morning Patriots Day game for the first time since 1984. It's been tradition for fans to pour out of Fenway Park and take the short walk to the Boylston Street finish line, just when many will be crossing.
