The rocking chairs that now line sections of the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk are a big hit, borough officials say.
The chairs are so popular that another dozen chairs will be purchased. There are already 21 chairs on various section of the boardwalk, said Borough Administrator Christine Riehl.
Mayor Stephen Reid came up with the idea to bring back family-friendly ambiance to the boards, according to a report in the Ocean Star.

"Jenkinson's and other places on the boardwalk had rocking chairs when I was growing up," the mayor said. "I think it adds a sense of calmness. It's very relaxing. It's very Point Pleasant Beach."
