Thefts from 25 Unlocked Cars in Point Boro Under Investigation
Bay Head Shores residents report cash, GPS units stolen from unlocked cars

Point Borough police are investigating thefts from 25 unlocked cars in the Bay Head Shores area.
Cash, GPS units and other items were stolen from some of the 25 cars that were entered between Monday night and Tuesday morning on Riviera Parkway, Blaze Drive, Bel-Air Court, Laguna Drive and Brierwood Lane, said Captain Richard Larsen on Wednesday.
There was nothing stolen from some of the cars, but it was obvious that items had been moved around in their glove compartments, Larsen said.

"At this time, our detectives are investigating several leads," he said.
Some of the unlocked cars had been parked in residents' driveways, while others were parked on the streets and several victims had multiple cars entered, Larsen said.

"These are crimes of opportunity," Larsen said. "When cars are locked, suspects usually move on to unlocked cars. None of these cars were entered by force.
"Residents are reminded to lock their cars at all times, whether they are parked on the street and or in their driveways, and to lock their houses," he said.
