Davis filed to run as an Independent candidate

When Barrella appointed Davis to the four-year term, Lurie objected, saying William Ammirata should have been reappointed as a planning board member and Ammirata said later in an interview he was disappointed he was not reappointed.

Ammirata had served as board chairman for 14 of his 15 years on the board.

Davis was not appointed board chairman and does not serve in that role now. He serves only as a board member.

Barrella had said in January he wanted to give someone new an opportunity to be a planning board member and that slots were limited, so he could not appoint all sitting members in addition to a new person.

No other independent candidates filed to run for Point Beach Council, according to the county.

Davis, who lives on Trenton Avenue, will face Democrats Sharon Cadalzo and Barry Moffett and Republicans Stephen Reid and Andy Cortes who won the June 5 Republican primary.
