Tug-Of-War Raises Thousands For Make-A-Wish, Point Beach Recreation
The proceeds from the 2023 Manasquan Inlet Tug-Of-War were presented at the Point Pleasant Beach council meeting.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ — A check for more than $23,000 was presented to the Point Pleasant Beach Recreation Committee, proceeds from the 2023 Manasquan Inlet Tug-Of-War event.
The festival that surrounds the tug-of-war games between Manasquan and Point Pleasant Beach also raised more than $10,500 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Mayor Douglas Vitale said.
"That's what this whole event is about, giving back," he said.

"It truly is a unique event to be a part of," said Dominique Gleason, director of external events for Make-A-Wish, which handled the registrations for the event participants. The funds from the event will go to help grant wishes for a child from Ocean County and from Monmouth County, she said.
"We're just real appreciative to be a part of it. We can't do it without the community's support," she said.

Vitale thanked all of the volunteers who assisted with the Tug-Of-War.
"It's a herculean task," he said. "We shut down a waterway for several hours."
Planning for the 2024 Tug-of-War is anticipated to begin next week, Vitale said. It is tentatively scheduled for Columbus Day weekend.
