Point Pleasant Beach High School has again made the list of U.S. News and World Report's top high schools in the United States.
The high school, which has a population of 371 students, has a 12 to 1 student/teacher ratio.

The Best High Schools rankings awards the top 6,517 public high schools with gold, silver and bronze medals, indicating their level of college readiness.
The 2017 rankings of best high schools identify the top-performing public schools at both the national and the state level and include data on more than 20,000 high schools. To be considered among the best, high schools had to pass a rigorous four-step process that sought to determine whether a school was serving all of its students and not just those who are college bound.

Point Pleasant Beach was ranked number 64 in New Jersey and 2004 nationally. Manasquan and Toms River North high schools also made the top 85 in the state.
For Smith, he attributes the school's success from a focus on advanced placement courses and college preparation. The district already offers a number of advanced placement and online courses and plans to offer an online college prep course for students in September
