Bitcoin Scam, Theft: Princeton Police Blotter

The Princeton Police blotter dated Feb. 25 had the following reports:

The following is a summary of incidents as reported by Princeton Police:

PRINCETON, NJ — On Feb. 18, at 9:20 p.m., following a motor vehicle stop on Rosedale Road for a speeding violation, a 39-year-old Princeton resident was arrested after she was found to have operated her vehicle while intoxicated. The woman was taken to headquarters and processed. She was issued summonses for driving while intoxicated, careless driving, reckless driving, drifting within a traffic lane, failure to keep right, failure to possess registration, and failure to possess an insurance document. The woman was released with a court date.

On Feb. 20, a resident reported that sometime between October 2024 and Feb. 17, 2025, an unknown person(s) stole her brown and gray 2018 Specialized Alibi bicycle that was stored in a bike storage unit and secured with a black bicycle chain. There are no suspects at this time.

On Feb. 20, a resident reported that she entered a convenience store on Nassau Street and deposited $4,750 into a Bitcoin ATM after being deceived by a suspect impersonating a Bank of Princeton employee. Bystanders intervened during the course of depositing additional funds, which allowed the remainder of the transaction to be canceled.

On Feb. 23, at 8:52 a.m. patrols responded to an establishment on Prospect Avenue and investigated the theft of a jacket and Apple Airpods that were reportedly stolen. The Princeton Police Department Detective Bureau is investigating.
