Borough Police Target Door-to-Door Solicitors Operating without a Permit

Police arrested four men this week.

Princeton Borough Police made several arrests this week after discovering that people were found selling items door to door without a permit.

On Tuesday around 6 p.m., police arrested Johnny Carroll, 38, of College Park, Calif. and charged him with soliciting without a permit and contempt of court after a resident complained about solicitors selling door to door.

The incident happened on Wilson Road.

Carroll was arrested on active warrants from Carney’s Point and South Orange Municipal Courts.

His bail was $750 and he was released on his own recognizance. He is due in court on Jun 6.

On Tuesday around 6 p.m., police arrested John Gilbert, 33, of Covington, Ala. And charged him with soliciting without a permit and contempt of court after a resident complained of solicitors selling door to door.

The incident happened on Westcott Road.

Gilbert had active warrants from Manchester, Madison, Summit and Princeton Borough Municipal Courts.

His bail was $1,433 and he was released on his own recognizance. He is due in court June 6.

 

On Wednesday around 5:45 p.m., police arrested Reginald Nelson, 42, of Long Beach, Calif. and charged him with soliciting without a permit and contempt of court after a resident complained of solicitors selling door to door.

The incident happened on Hawthorne Avenue.

Nelson had active warrants from Princeton Borough and Medford Municipal Court.

He was committed pending $250 bail and is due in court June 6.

 

On Wednesday around 8 p.m., police arrested Greg Lewis, 30, of Memphis, Tenn. And charged him with soliciting without a permit and contempt of court after a resident complained of solicitors selling door to door.

The incident happened on Westcott Road.

Lewis had active warrants from Princeton Township and Riverdale Municipal Courts.

 His bail was $274 and he was released on his own recognizance. He is due in court June 6.
