Greater Princeton Youth Orchestra Adds 3 New Board Members

The appointments come as GPYO expands its ensembles, community partnerships, and programming.

PRINCETON, NJ — The Greater Princeton Youth Orchestra recently welcomed three new members to its Board of Directors - Steve Clayton, Joy Wang, and Christine Giviskos.

"These three individuals bring an extraordinary breadth of experience in development, finance, the arts, and community engagement," said David DeFreese, GPYO Board Chair. "Their commitment to GPYO's mission will help us expand opportunities for young musicians and strengthen our role as a cultural resource in the region."

The appointments come as GPYO expands its ensembles, community partnerships, and programming, including planned master classes with internationally renowned conductor Maestro Constantine Kitsopoulos.

Steve Clayton is a development and communications leader with extensive nonprofit experience in fundraising strategy, donor engagement, and organizational storytelling. "I've long admired GPYO's commitment to giving young musicians not just technical training, but the experience of working together toward something greater than themselves," Clayton said. "I'm excited to contribute my skills in development and communications to help ensure GPYO's growth and sustainability."

Joy Wang, a former senior investment analyst with 14 years on Wall Street and current GPYO parent, brings financial expertise and firsthand insight into the program's impact. "As a parent, I've seen how transformative GPYO is for students," Wang said. "It gives them confidence, discipline, and joy through music. I look forward to supporting the organization in reaching more families and building a strong financial future."

Christine Giviskos serves as Curator of Prints, Drawings, and European Art at the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University. Her experience in the cultural sector brings valuable curatorial insight and connections to arts professionals. "I strongly believe in the power of the arts, especially in the lives of students," Giviskos said. "I'm honored to join the Board and to help foster a thriving cultural community where young people can develop as musicians and leaders."
