​Head-On Crash Leaves Juvenile Critical In Princeton, Woman Charged​

Due to the severity of the crash, the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office Serious Collision Response Team was called to assist, police said.

PRINCETON, NJ — A Manalapan woman was charged after a head-on collision in Princeton left a juvenile in critical condition Thursday night, police said.

Princeton police responded to South Harrison Street, just north of Carnegie Lake, around 9:37 p.m. on Oct. 23 for a report of a two-vehicle crash.

According to the preliminary investigation, a 2021 Hyundai Elantra traveling southbound crossed into the northbound lane and struck a 2017 Honda Accord head-on.

The driver of the Honda sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital. A juvenile passenger in the Honda suffered serious injuries and remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Nicollette Czajkowski, 33, of Manalapan, was taken into custody at the scene and charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right, reckless driving and careless driving. Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.

South Harrison Street was closed for approximately three hours.

Police said they are not releasing the names of the occupants of the Honda Accord for privacy reasons. The investigation is ongoing.
