Man Charged With Aggravated Assault On Princeton Cop During Traffic Stop
Hugh Wynne, 37, of Plainsboro, was stopped for making an illegal right turn on red last week, said police.
PRINCETON, NJ — A man was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer following a traffic stop last week.
On Nov. 7 at 8:19 p.m., a Princeton Police Officer saw a vehicle make an illegal right turn on red from Nassau Street onto Witherspoon Street, despite the presence of a clearly posted "No Turn on Red" sign, according to the police blotter.
Police stopped the driver, identified as Hugh Wynne, 37, of Plainsboro, who aggressively got out of the vehicle, according to the blotter.

"Wynne disregarded multiple lawful commands and acted in a disorderly fashion, shouting profanities and refusing to comply with officers’ instructions," according to the blotter.
Police called for more officers to help as they said Wynne's behavior escalated.

Wynne then hit an officer with his jacket and actively resisted arrest, according to the blotter.
He was subsequently taken into custody without further incident and taken to police headquarters for processing.
Wynne was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, and failure to observe a traffic control device.
Following processing, he was taken to the Mercer County Correctional Center and remanded to their custody.
