Man Found With Handgun, Loaded Magazines Following Argument In Princeton

The man mentioned having a gun during an argument at a local business, police said.

PRINCETON, NJ — A Princeton man was charged with making terroristic threats and other weapons offenses after he was found in possession of a handgun and loaded magazines, Princeton Police said.

On Monday, around 9:32 a.m., Princeton Police received a 911 call reporting a verbal altercation at a business on North Harrison Street.

The caller told police that a man had threatened another individual at the scene and referenced having a firearm in a vehicle.

Officers responded promptly and located a man matching the caller’s description—a Black male in his 30s, wearing black sweatpants and a white shirt. He was identified as Okello Azi, 39, of Princeton.

Following an investigation, officers placed Azi under arrest for terroristic threats.

During a search of Azi’s vehicle officers found a silver and black Springfield XD .45 caliber handgun, along with two magazines loaded with hollow-point ammunition, police said.

Azi was taken to the Princeton Police Department, where he was processed and charged with terroristic threats, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and possession of hollow-point ammunition.

He was later taken to the Mercer County Correctional Center.
