Police Blotter: Stolen iPad, Accidents and Possession of CDS

The following incidents were reported by Princeton Township Police between Sept. 24 and Sept. 30

 

On Sept. 24 at 12:05 p.m., a resident of the 100 block of Griggs Drive reported that over the past two months she has noticed electronics and jewelry missing from her home and her vehicle. There was no sign of forced entry to either, and the victim estimated the total value of the theft at $750.

On Sept. 25 at 12:58 p.m., a staff member at Princeton Day School reported that sometime between Sept. 21 and Sept. 22, an iPad was stolen from the school. An investigation resulted in the arrest of Zhanna Kovtunenko, 53, of Lawrenceville. Kovtunenko was arrested, charged with burglary and theft and released on her own recognizance.

On Sept. 25 at 6:38 p.m., police investigated a two-car, rear-end crash on northbound on Rt. 27 at River Road. An investigation determined that a Chevrolet driven by Maryann Oake, 43, of Cranbury, rear-ended an Audi driven by Nataliya Alimova, 45, of North Brunswick. Alimova complained of a headache but refused medical treatment at the scene. Both vehicles were driven away. Oake was issued a summons for careless driving.

On Sept. 25 at 7:03 p.m., a victim reported that he had parked his bicycle near the Valley Road School at approximately 3:30 p.m., but when he returned to the bike, the seat and rear wheel were missing. The items were valued at about $80.

On Sept. 27 at 9:28 a.m., police, Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad and Princeton Fire Department responded to two-car crash at the intersection of Valley Road and Walnut Lane. An investigation revealed that a Honda driven by Carol Conklin, 58, of Trenton failed to stop at the stop sign and hit a Chevrolet driven by Margaret Rose of Princeton. Rose had to be extricated from her vehicle. Both drivers were transported to a local hospital for observation, and both vehicles were towed from the scene. Conklin was issued a summons for failure to stop at a stop sign. 

On Sept. 27 at 4:19 p.m., police observed two men in the amphitheater area of Community Park North "engaging in CDS related behavior." The men- Ryan Everett, 22, of Princeton, and Robert Carter, Jr., 45, of Princeton- were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (suspected marijuana under 50g). Carter also had outstanding warrants from the City of Trenton. 

On Sept. 30 at 6:36 p.m., Police investigated a two-car crash on Mountain Avenue at Route 206. Police said that a vehicle driven by Juan Orellana, 63, of Trenton was turning north onto Route 206 when it hit a vehicle driven by Charles Beach Jr., 68, of Princeton. Beach was crossing Route 206 onto Mountain Avenue from the jug handle. A passenger in each vehicle complained of general pain, but both refused treatment. Both vehicles were towed away, and Orellana was issued a summons for failure to yield to oncoming traffic.
