Police Blotter: Thefts, Accidents, Criminal Mischief

The following incidents were reported by Princeton Township Police for the period from Aug. 30 to Sept. 5.

 

On Aug. 30 at 11:44 a.m., a victim in the first block of Billie Ellis Lane reported that sometime since 4 p.m. on Aug. 28, someone tried to remove a license plate from their vehicle. The attempt bent the license plate and left scratches on the vehicle. No other similar incidents were reported. 

On Aug. 30 at 2:03 a.m., police responded to a report of a car that hit a tree in the 500 block of Great Road. An investigation revealed that the driver, Marvin Jacobsen, 70, of Skillman apparently fell asleep at the wheel and drove off the road. The vehicle was towed away, and Jacobsen was issued a summons for Careless Driving.

On Aug. 30 at 3:33 p.m., police investigated a two-car accident in the 1100 block of Great Road. An investigation revealed that a Honda driven by Christopher Kane, 24, of Yardley, Pa was stopped in traffic when it struck from behind by a Nissan driven by Daricza Cabrera, 28, of Trenton. Cabrera was issued a summons for Careless Driving 

On Aug. 31 at 2:13 p.m., police investigated a two-car accident and determined that an Acura Driven by Stefan Lerner, 74, of Princeton was backing out of a parking spot and struck a Hyundai driven by Mariano Buttitta, 44, of Monmouth Junction. Lerner was issued a summons for careless driving.

On Aug. 31 at 5:34 p.m., a resident of Marion Road reported the sometime during the morning someone went into his unlocked vehicle and removed cash from inside. No other similar incidents were reported in the area.

On Aug. 31 at 8:20 p.m., a business owner in the 300 block of Witherspoon Street reported that sometime between 5:40 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. that day, someone took his iPhone while it was unattended. The value of the phone is approximately $500.

On Sept. 5 at 10:25 a.m., a business director in the 1100 block of Great Road reported that an iPad owned by the business was stolen sometime between 4 p.m. on Sept. 4 and 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 5. Police could find no forced entry.
