Power Slowly Returns to Princeton

Fewer than 1,000 customers are without power in Princeton Borough and Princeton Township as of early Monday, according to PSE&G.

 

Power seems to be coming back to Princeton slowly but surely. 

At noon on Sunday, PSE&G told Princeton officials that the Borough had 1,283 customers without power and the Township had approximately 2,380, for a total of 3,663.

By early Monday morning, PSE&G's online outage map showed that fewer than 1,000 people were still in the dark in Princeton Borough and Township combined. 

Everyone is expected to have power by late Tuesday night, according to PSE&G estimates.

Those without power are advised to notify PSE&G of their power outage if they haven't already. Outages should be reported to 1-800-436-PSEG (7734).

New York Sports Club in the Princeton Shopping Center welcomes members and non-members to come in and take a hot shower and charge electronics. A community shelter is also open at John Witherspoon Middle School. 

Power was restored to all Princeton Public Schools by Sunday night, with Johnson Park, Littlebrook and Community Park elementary schools the last to come online late Sunday. Superintendent Judy Wilson said the schools' maintenance and custodial crews would be working overnight to start boilers and fire alarm systems in preparation for students' arrival. 

The Township Muncipal complex and Borough Hall both have power back. 

Halloween in Princeton is scheduled for Mon. Nov. 5., although officials say this is subject to change and that "parents are encouraged to use good judgement regarding taking children out."
