Princeton To Celebrate Pride Month With Flag-Raising Ceremony May 31
Events for the day include a Pride picnic and a Pride dance party.
PRINCETON, NJ — June is Pride Month and the Municipality will kick off the celebrations by hosting a flag-raising ceremony at Monument Hall on May 31, at 12 p.m.
Celebrations continue at the Princeton Public Library's Pride Picnic at 4:30 p.m. on Hinds Plaza. Attendees can then head across the street to the Arts Council of Princeton for a Pride Dance Party starting at 7:30 p.m.
Pride Month is celebrated across the United States every year in June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan.

Earlier, the last Sunday in June was initially celebrated as "Gay Pride Day," but the actual day was flexible.
But the "day" soon grew to encompass a month-long series of events across many cities and towns in the country. Today, celebrations include pride parades, picnics, parties, workshops, symposia, concerts and more.
