“Cameras are being installed to address gaps in coverage,” a district spokesperson told Patch. "The new cameras are being installed to ensure the safety of everyone in the building.”
During the November elections last year, the $13 million bond referendum was on the ballot and voters gave it a nod.
Around 31.5 percent of the funds, the largest chunk, were earmarked for safety and security.
The total cost for new security cameras came to $489,410, according to PPS spokesperson. This does not include the amount for the Athletic Field Press Box, which is not related to security, and PHS Electronic Access Controls upgrades which are not security cameras.
The installation work is scheduled to be completed over the summer.
