Princeton's Terhune Orchards To Mark 50th Anniversary With Yearlong Celebration
The 250-acre farm is recognized by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection as a sustainable farm.

PRINCETON, NJ — Terhune Orchards is turning 50 this year. A yearlong celebration will be held to honor its legacy of farming, family, and community.
The Mount family purchased the farm in 1975. Terhune Orchards has been bringing farm-fresh produce, award-winning wines, and unforgettable experiences to Mercer County and beyond.
The 250-acre farm, recognized by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection as a sustainable farm, has grown from a small family farm into a popular destination attracting visitors for apple, pumpkin, and fruit picking, live music and wine tasting, family-fun activities, educational programs, and more.

“Reaching 50 years at Terhune Orchards is an incredible milestone, and we are thrilled to celebrate this journey with our community,” said Pam Mount. “From our dedicated staff to our loyal customers, supportive neighbors, and local officials, we are deeply grateful to everyone who has been part of our story. This anniversary is a tribute to the shared commitment to sustainable farming, family traditions, and bringing people together.”
The 50th anniversary festivities will begin with a special event on March 6, commemorating the official anniversary of the Mounts’ purchase of Terhune Orchards on March 6, 1975.

New Jersey Secretary of Agriculture Edward Wengryn and New Jersey State Senator Shirley Turner will be present for the celebration. The event will also feature the unveiling of a limited-edition 50th anniversary wine, highlighting the farm’s evolution into a winery destination.
Over the decades, the farm has expanded to five different properties producing over 60 crops, including certified organic vegetables. The Mounts have introduced Pick Your Own produce, a bakery known for its iconic cider donuts, trend-setting educational programs, and an award-winning vineyard and winery.
“As we celebrate 50 years, we’re just as committed to the future as we are to our past,” says Tannwen Mount. “We continue to engage our community with fun and educational experiences, while providing the same farm-fresh quality that has been at the heart of Terhune Orchards for generations. We’re excited to grow, innovate, and welcome the next generation to be part of our farm’s story.”
Here’s a list of 50th Anniversary events planned at Terhune:
- 50th Anniversary Gathering, Thursday, March 6: An intimate gathering to commemorate the official purchase date. The event will feature remarks by New Jersey Secretary of Agriculture Edward Wengryn and New Jersey State Senator Shirley Turner.
- 50th Anniversary Community Celebration, Saturday, August 16: A free public event to thank the customers, staff, and community that have supported Terhune over the years.
- 50th Anniversary “Apple Days,” September 13–14: A special throwback event celebrating the original Terhune Orchards Apple Day. The ticketed event will kick off the fall festival season.
- Garden Club of Princeton’s Annual Photography Show, April 22–24, 2025: Themed “Celebrating 50 Years of Terhune Orchards,” with judged categories such as “Out in the Field” and “Seasons at the Orchard.”
- 2025 Terhune Orchards’ Annual Art Show, opens Sept. 7-November: Themed “Scenes from Terhune Orchards,” the show welcomes artwork in all mediums.
