Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Mercer County

Some storms could produce hail and damaging winds, forecasters said. See storm timings:

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Forecasters have issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Mercer County on Friday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) the severe thunderstorm watch is under effect until 6 p.m., Friday.

There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. in all Mercer County towns.

Some storms could produce hail and damaging winds in some parts of the county, according to the NWS.

A chance of showers, with thunderstorms is also possible on Saturday after 11 a.m. The weather is expected to be mostly cloudy through mid-morning, then becoming sunny, with a high near 78.

Here’s the forecast through the weekend for Mercer County:

Friday morning: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Some of the storms could produce hail and damaging winds. Temperature falling to around 68 by 5 p.m. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New rainfall amounts between a half and three-quarters of an inch possible.

Friday night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. Patchy fog after 10 p.m. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low of around 59.

Saturday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 11 a.m. Mostly cloudy through mid-morning, then becoming sunny, with a high near 78. Saturday night will be mostly clear with a low around 57.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 82. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
