Four students were recognized for their creativity and scientific curiosity in the 2025 National Chemistry Week Illustrated Poem Contest, sponsored by the Princeton Section of the American Chemical Society. This year’s theme, “The Hidden Life of Spices,” invited students across the region to craft an original poem and accompanying artwork that captured the science, wonder, and everyday magic of spices.

In the K–2nd Grade category, Juliette earned first place for her poem “Spices of Color.” In the 3rd–5th Grade category, Sara earned first place for “Hidden Life of Spices,” Abigail earned second place for “Secrets of Spices,” and Lorelei received an honorable mention for her poem “Cinnamon.”

Submissions were judged by members of the Princeton Section on artistic merit, clarity of message, originality, creativity, and overall neatness. Students were invited to write a poem of 40 words or fewer in any approved poetic style and illustrate their interpretation of the annual NCW theme.
