PRINCETON, NJ — Sustainable Princeton is inviting community members to ditch their car keys and lace up their walking shoes or hop on their bikes for the month-long Walk 'n Roll Challenge.

This free community initiative encourages residents to choose walking and biking over driving while competing for fantastic prizes donated by local businesses.

Fleet Feet Princeton anchors the walker prizes with a grand prize "Outfitting Experience" including complimentary shoes and insoles valued up to $225. Second place receives a Walking Safety Kit, while third place wins Goodr sunglasses.

Bikers compete for equally enticing rewards. Road Maestro will provide the grand prize of a full bike tune-up worth $95, Sourland Cycles will contribute to a Bike Accessory Kit for second place, and Walk Bike Princeton is offering a headlight set for third place.

Adding excitement throughout the month, Locomotion provides weekly random giveaways of group class passes or private personal training sessions to all registered participants.

Beyond the competitive element, the challenge addresses broader community wellness and environmental goals. Sustainable Princeton hopes to motivate residents to walk or bike for daily activities like commuting to work, shopping, attending meetings, or visiting doctors instead of automatically reaching for car keys.

Participants must live or work in Princeton to be eligible for prizes. Weekly leaderboard updates arrive via email every Friday, keeping the competitive spirit alive throughout September.
