Today is Primary Day in Princeton

Here's what you need to know.

Today is primary day in Princeton, and two Democrats candidates will square off in a contested mayoral race while a Republican will try to earn a write-in mayoral nomination.

Other candidates are running uncontested for their party nominations for seats on borough council and township committee. 

The winners on Tuesday will advance to the November ballot.

David Goldfarb and Yina Moore, both Democrats, are vying for the Democratic nomination for borough mayor to replace Mildred Trotman, who announced earlier this year that she will not seek reelection.  

New to the race is Jill Jachera, who recently announced that she will run for the Republican mayoral nomination via write-in votes.

Democrat Barbara Trelstad is running for reelection to borough council and Heather Howard, also a Democrat, is seeking to fill a spot on borough council vacated by mayoral candidate Goldfarb. 

On the Republican side, Dudley Sipprelle and Peter Marks are also running for borough council. 

In Princeton Township, Democrats Bernie Miller and Sue Nemeth, are running for reelection to the Township Committee. 

Mark Scheibner and Geoff Aton, both Republicans, are seeking positions on the Township Committee. 

Polls are open today, June 7, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
