Week in Review: Princeton Man in Plane Crash, Princeton U to Host 5k and More

Gov. Chris Christie wants utility companies held accountable for their emergency preparedness. Following the findings of a Board of Public Utilities  investigation released Wednesday, Christie proposed legislation empowering regulators to levy hefty fines against utilities. The legislation raises potential administrative penalties against companies from $100 to $25,000 per daily assessment.

When Jack Morrison opened  in 1982, he never imagined it would become a long-term career. Over the past three decades, it has grown into Princeton powerhouse JM Group, which now employs about 130 people at Nassau Street Seafood & Produce Company, ,  and The Princeton Farmer's Market.

 

The Cheesecake Factory will open its doors at theQuaker Bridge Mall on Wednesday, Sept. 19, the company has confirmed. With room to accommodate 293 diners, the new Cheesecake Factorywill also feature a 200-item menu, plus a bakery and bar.

 

The walls are covered with double chocolate, white table linen, butter cookie and Swiss chocolate paint colors. The hardwood floors are stained a deep, rich, dark brown and soothing jazz plays in the background. A sign reads, “Keep Calm and Eat Chocolate.” Chocolate Lover's Club of Princeton is a retail store, a gift shop, a place to pick up a frozen summer treat or baked good, take chocolate-making classes, tour the chocolate production facility, even rent the space for a birthday party or team-building exercise.

 

Both occupants of a twin-engine plane that at Hillsborough's Central Jersey Regional Airport suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.  Alfonso Meghnagi, 44, of Princeton, and Stuart Rosenberg, 44, of South Orange, were on board the 1980 Beechwood twin engine aircraft that overturned while attempting to land at about 11:30 a.m., Hillsborough Police said.

 

The fourth annual Butler/Wilson 5K run will take place at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Sept. 15. Registration for the student-organized race, which is open to the public, is a $10 minimum donation to the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen. Early pre-registrants will receive a t-shirt and will be entered into a special raffle.
