Winter Weather Advisory Issued In Princeton Until Friday Morning

Commuters should expect slippery road conditions during the Friday morning commute, forecasters and police said. ​​

PRINCETON, NJ — The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather outlook for the Municipality and all of Mercer County. The watch is in effect between 7 p.m. Thursday, until 10 a.m. Friday.

Mixed precipitation and total snow and sleet accumulation of up to an inch is expected, according to the National Weather Service.

According to the weather service's latest forecast, snow will become freezing rain Thursday into Friday morning.

Central Jersey and the Jersey Shore should see less than an inch of snow, forecasters say, with a wintry mix of sleet and light snow becoming rain by Friday morning. Up to two-tenths of an inch of ice accumulation is expected in much of central New Jersey as well.

Here's the forecast:

Thursday night: A chance of rain and sleet before 11 p.m., then sleet between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. Freezing rain after 4 a.m. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. Total nighttime ice accumulation of less than 0.1 of an inch is possible. Total nighttime sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Friday: Rain or freezing rain before 11 a.m., then a chance of rain between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New ice accumulation of less than 0.1 of an inch is possible.

Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 20. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph.
