Ramsey restaurants were named top picks in a number of categories in the annual Best of Bergen Restaurant and Food Readers’ Choice Awards by Bergen Health and Life Magazine.
Buono Bagels came in as first choice in both the 'Best Bagels' and the 'Best Breakfast' categories. As winner of 'Best Bagels,' Buono's beat out Goldberg's Famous Bagels in Wyckoff and Ronnie's Bagels in Hillsdale. For 'Best Breakfast,' Buono's beat out Raymond's and Country Pancake House in Ridgewood, and Jack's Cafe in Westwood.
Ramsey's Farmers Market was voted by readers as the number one Farmers Market in Bergen County, beating out Closter and Demarest. This outdoor Farmers Market is open every Sunday through November 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ramsey Main Street Train Station. Included in the large gathering of vendors is Ramsey's own Blooming Hill Farm, offering organic fruits and vegetables from Guy Jones' 150 acre farm.
Readers voted Organico as their top choice when it comes to the Best Organic Health Food Shop. Celebrating 10 years, Organico is a health food store that offers a cafe and a juice bar.
Coming in second for the best Irish Pub in Bergen County is The Shannon Rose. In addition to offering a great pub menu, The Shannon Rose offers patio specials and ladies night every Thursday, as well as craft beers.
Lotito's Deli was ranked #2 as Best Italian Deli in Bergen. Family-owned by Tony and Michael Lotito, this deli also offers catering for all parties, including corporate events. Open seven days a week, from breakfast to dinner, Lotito's offers a variety of daily specials.
With a reputation for great service and delicious bar pizza, Kinchley's was a top pick in two categories--it was ranked #3 in both the 'Best Pizza' and 'Best Cheap Eats' categories.
Ramsey's Varka Estiatorio took the trifecta ranking #3 in 'Best Greek Restaurant,' 'Best Seafood Restaurant' and 'Best Olives' categories. Dedicated to providing the freshest European seafood to their customers, Executive Chef George Georgiades and Stavros Angelakos work with fishermen and exporters who can guarantee the shortest time between the net and the plate.
In the category of 'Best Tacos,' Chipolte Mexican Grill took third place. Chipolte's is dedicated to providing 'food with integrity' by "supporting and sustaining family farmers who respect the land and the animals in their care." They source organic and local produce whenever they can and use dairy from cows raised without the use of synthetic hormones.
