A dog and two cats also died, Dillon said. No other injuries were reported.

The girl, who lived in the home, was on the second floor of the home when firefighters found her, according to NJ Advance Media. Her older sister and a family friend — both adults — exited the home without injuries, the report says.

The victim's parents weren't at home when the fire broke out, but they were nearby and went directly to the hospital when they were informed about the incident, NJ Advance Media says.

The Allendale Police Department and Bergen County Prosecutor's Office and Sheriff's Office continue to investigate the fire.
