Randolph Housing Project Approved For Fed Funds: Rep. Sherrill
According to the congresswoman, all 10 of the community projects she submitted on behalf of district 11 have received funding approval.

RANDOLPH, NJ — The projects proposed by U.S. Congresswoman for NJ-11 Mikie Sherrill last month, including affordable housing in Randolph, have been approved for federal funding, according to the representative.
The congresswoman said all 10 of the community projects she submitted on behalf of the district have received funding approval in the House Appropriations Committee fiscal year 2022 funding bills.
Sherrill spoke last month before a powerful budget committee and asked for $3 million for Morris Habitat for Humanity's largest affordable housing project to date in Randolph.

The representative said the next steps for these Appropriations FY22 funding bills are first to be considered by the full House Appropriations Committee, and then to be considered and voted on by the full House on the floor. Following House passage, they will then need to clear the Senate.
The Senate has not yet indicated whether they will include Community Funding Projects in their legislation, she said Tuesday.

But according to Sherrill, they'd make an "overwhelming impact" throughout the district.

"These projects were submitted by nonprofits and municipal organizations who are working hard to meet the needs of their communities," she said. "If enacted, this potential funding could be the difference that gets them across the finish line."
The congresswoman explained last month that the projects she submitted for funding are geared towards helping ease the recovery from the pandemic, by providing services to people who were most affected by it — for example those whose housing security was affected by a job loss.
"These aren't the flashiest projects congress has ever funded, but they are often the most impactful," she said.
Here is the list of projects:
- $3 million for Morris Habitat for Humanity's largest affordable housing project to date in Randolph.
- Nearly $300,000 for Suicide Prevention Services through the Mental Health Association of Essex and Morris County.
- $250,000 for a Park Improvements Project in West Orange, specifically designed to enhance ADA accessibility and provide exercise options for seniors.
- Nearly $650,000 in funding for the installation of new lights at a recreation complex in Totowa.
- $250,000 for the replacement of a water main in Stanhope.
