Star Student Athlete: Allyson Shines Both On And Off The Field

RANDOLPH, NJ — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

She is my daughter.

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

Allyson is all around an amazing athlete but more important she is an amazing person. Her warm heart penetrates everything that she does. Every interaction with others on the field and off, is a rewarding experience because she always puts her heart and soul into everything that she does.

On the field, Allyson is a star athlete. She has been the starting goalkeeper for the Randolph Varsity Girls soccer team for 3 years and has made the Girls Varsity Basketball team for the past 3 years as well. On her soccer club team, the NJ Nationals, she is currently the starting goalkeeper for the past 5 years. Her leadership on the field has helped her club team to achieve a National playoff spot in the 2022 National playoffs. Currently, her club team is ranked 1st in NJ and 5th in the country. She works so hard on the field that she was named "Goalkeeper of the PRO series Event" in December of 2021.

Off the field, she has so many accomplishments that they are all hard to name. These include being nominated to the National Honor Society and National Math Honor Society for the past 2 years. She is a member of the Math League and the Key club which is a fantastic service club. She was also President of the Spanish club last year. She continues to strive academically to do her best but also on the sports fields as well.

Allyson also likes to volunteer on her very few off hours. She has volunteered for the public library, for Frankie's fund and the annual soccer service project, just to name a few. Along with her volunteer hours, Allyson has also been a soccer and basketball referee for the youth recreation program in town for the past few years. These opportunities really give Allyson the chance to give back to the youth by mentoring them and passing on her love of sports.

To my knowledge, there has not been anyone that Allyson has come across that has said they didn't think she was truly an amazing person. Her coaches love coaching her, the basketball referee carded officials and coaches for the youth program love her, her teachers always have great things to say about her and she is such an integral part of our family. She is such an amazing sister and daughter and I truly hope that you think that she is as amazing as we all do.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?

Allyson is the epitome of humility. Even though she competes at such a high level, she is always there to lend a helping hand or to support her fellow teammates. She will always tell you that there is a learning opportunity or a chance to grow with every game or practice that she attends. She knows that if you strive to do better that you can achieve great things.
