Freezy Freeze: Coolest Ice Cream Around

The liquid nitrogen ice cream truck can be found at the Red Bank Farmers Market on Sundays.

It's not your typical ice cream truck.

When you see the Freezy Freeze ice cream truck around town, you see smoke billowing out its serving side and mixers lined up — like a makeshift mad scientist's lab on wheels.

This is no truck with a few ice pops and treats to peddle to the kids. It's a special kind of spooky truck where liquid nitrogen ice cream is made.

No, it's not Halloween yet, and the ice cream isn't tailor-made for Addams Family types. It's just homemade, cool ice cream treats for all.

In fact, you could say it's very cool — about 320 degrees below zero cool.

"It's LN2 Good," says the slogan on the side. And it's made-to-order. That's what the "cool" liquid nitrogen does — instantly cools down the fresh ice cream ingredients while mixing and … viola, ice-cold, hand-blended ice cream in a variety of flavors with a choice of toppings.

As kids rushed toward it to fetch some ice cream on a humid Sunday at the Red Bank Farmers Market, Freezy Freeze's Andrew, mixing it up behind the counter, could be overheard saying, "It's not scary, the smoke is just cooling down the ice cream."

Another satisfied customer.

The Freezy Freeze can be found parked at the Farmers Market at the Galleria every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
