It's what's happening in the Red Bank-Shrewsbury area on Thursday.

By Elaine Van Develde
Well, Red Bank-Shrewsbury area friends and fans, we're officially into the end of the week and, guess what? The weather troll is up to his antics again.
I know, I have a slightly loopy imagination. OK, very loopy. But, really, can't you just see this little Trilogy of Terror-type troll jumping up and down on a rain cloud, raining on our good weather parade. OK, it's only supposed to rain for one day —today.
We'll manage, because the chance of rain, possible thunderstorms, is only 40 percent during the day and 80 percent at night, according to the troll, uh, National Weather Service. That rain, however, will be followed by sunny skies on Friday, the troll says.
On to the day …
In case you still want to get out and surf, boat or swim before the rain or in between drops, here's the tide table for Thursday going into Friday:
2013-08-01 5:32 AM EDT 2.77 feet High Tide
2013-08-01 5:53 AM EDT Sunrise
2013-08-01 11:36 AM EDT 0.55 feet Low Tide
2013-08-01 5:59 PM EDT 3.29 feet High Tide
2013-08-01 8:10 PM EDT Sunset
2013-08-02 12:34 AM EDT 0.55 feet Low Tide
2013-08-02 5:54 AM EDT Sunrise
Activities …
Jazz in the Park at Riverside Gardens at 7:30 p.m., featuring the Nick Clemons Band, IF it doesn't rain. We'll keep you posted.
There's Spanish-English story time at 11 a.m. and an artists' workshop at the Red Bank Public Library. There are other things going on at the library. Good idea to explore for a shaky weather day.
Foodie (and drink) Fun …
It's Ladies' Night at Gaetano's and a four-course meal is $30.
It's Happy Hour all night at Red with a "create-your-own" three-course sushi menu for $25.
And, at Tommy's Coal Fired Pizza they're offering half-priced pitchers of beer and half-priced coal oven roasted wings.
Happy Hour at Buona Sera is from 4 to 10 p.m. tonight.
Coming up …
Another special business feature is on its way to the site and we will take a look back in time again this week with a peek at the Red Bank Register archives.
And there's more …
