Red Bank Fire Code Official Earns National Honor
John Drucker recognized as AFAA's 2011 Man of the Year.

When John Drucker shows up at a site, or picks up the phone, it often means there’s a question, a problem, or even cause for delay. It’s not always a call builders look forward to, but it’s a necessary call, one, undoubtedly, that saves lives.
Drucker, a Red Bank fire protection code official, received national recognition recently as the Automatic Fire Alarm Association’s 2011 May of the Year for his efforts in helping ensure fire safety. During a council meeting, the borough passed a resolution honoring Drucker.
“It is a tough job,” he said, adding that tough fire safety measures help keep people safe. “Sometimes the news we have to give isn’t always well received, but it is the name of the game.”

Red Bank Mayor Pat Menna said he was sure that the results of Drucker’s actions have helped save lives over the years. He also praised Drucker for working with developers and builders to help resolve fire safety issues, turning what could be a lengthy and frustrating process in one decidedly less so.
Just last week, Menna said, he took two calls from builders working on separate projects who had nothing but positive things to say about Drucker’s professionalism and assistance in working through their fire safety issues.
